The Block 2024: Kitchen Reveals
Kitchen Week, everyone’s favourite week on The Block came to a close last night and the results were nothing short of breathtaking! As the saying goes, “kitchen’s sell houses”, so it was no surprise that all the blockheads were hoping for the coveted win this week. With so much on the line, Kinsman was there to help- offering the very latest in kitchen design from stylish kitchen cabinets, handles, benchtops, surfaces and storage accessories.
Step inside each kitchen and hear what the judges Shaynna Blaze, Darren Palmer and Marty Fox’s favourite features were. Which kitchen won your heart?
House 1: Maddy and Charlotte
Score: 29
Place: 2nd
Embracing a neutral and organic colour palette, Maddy and Charlotte’s kitchen showcased our new Sepia Profile door in Woodland Silver throughout their kitchen. Featuring an elegant and subtle woodgrain embossed matte finish, the cabinetry has been paired with Bronze Bar handles, AntiquePVD Aurum tapware and a Brushed Nickel sink from ABI Interiors.
Shaynna was quick to praise the cabinetry, exclaiming “This oak is just beautiful!” She noted that the colour palette mixing the stone with the joinery could have been risky but that it had been done to perfection. “To me, it’s the perfect combination!”
The central island bench demands attention in the room. It features Sensa Taj Mahal from Cosentino, a stunning surface which mimics the beauty of natural stone without the maintenance. Flexible LED Strip lighting has been used to highlight the island, while the seating zone allows for family and friends to gather.
“Being a holiday house and an open living concept, this is where everyone is going to gather around,” explained the girls. “It’s the heart of the home!”
The inclusion of our Vertical Broadline Glass adds interest and depth to the wall cabinetry, beautifully highlighted by internal Warm LED downlights. The bank of Smeg Neptune Grey appliances contrast against the lighter tone cabinetry, while the fridges have been concealed behind joinery for a seamless look – and all are the perfect addition to this home chef’s kitchen.
The kitchen is both stylish and functional, with plenty of special storage inclusions such as the Concepta Pantry by Hafele. This pantry featured a soft-close pocket door mechanism designed for compact spaces, allowing pantry doors to effortlessly slide open, tuck away, and seamlessly integrate with surrounding cabinetry when closed.
While it was certainly an unusual position to be in, given that it was Paige and Jesse that had sat down with us at the beginning of filming, Maddy and Charlotte made the kitchen their own. With clever choices such as changing the tapware, flooring and their styling, the pair received a 10 from Darren! Wow!

House 2: Courtney and Grant
Score: 27
Place: 3rd
Courtney and Grant had a Mediterranean aesthetic in mind when designing their kitchen that forms the heart of their home. They opted for natural timber-look finishes in Kinsman Budino Walnut to create a rich and warm atmosphere, paired with Brushed Gold Bar and Lip-Pull handles, surfaces in Cosentino’s Dekton Khalo. ASKO appliances complements the space beautifully with their soft black glass and pearl effect finishes.
“Everything in here is just beautiful”, smiled Darren. “The walnut colour could not be more on trend. I’m besotted by the colour scheme, by the materiality, by the decisions that they’ve made for drama and impact!”
The upstand ledge in the kitchen splashback area is an eye-catching addition, providing space for decorative items, oils, and spices- all easily reachable while cooking. Warm LED Strip lighting highlights this special design feature.
The seating zone at the island bench has been deliberately offset from the Brushed Brass Sink and Tap from ABI Interiors to maintain a safe distance from the splash zone and to prominently display a large section of Dekton Khalo as you enter the space. The kitchen seamlessly continues into the pantry zone, where open shelving sits above additional bench space perfect for food preparation, along with an extra sink for cleaning outside the main kitchen area.
“It’s an entertainers’ kitchen,’ explained Courtney. “I think we have thought of everything in terms of an entertainer’s kitchen and what it needs. Plus, I think the colours will endure for a long time.”

House 3: Ricky and Haydn
Score: 23
Place: 5th
Ricky and Haydn designed their kitchen space to feel light, bright, and airy. They opted for Kinsman’s Coastal Oak Woodmatt doors for a light-washed oak timber look, paired with White Ultramatt cabinetry for a super matte finish in bright white. Our new Bronze handles and ABI Interiors hardware in Brushed Bronze complete the look.
Darren was quick to praise the timber-look cabinetry. “Coastal Oak is probably one of my favourite finishes- ever,” he said. “I think it’s absolutely appropriate for the beach, and it’s got a lovely softness in the grain.”
Cosentino’s Dekton Morpheus in its velvet finish is another standout, creating high impact with its beautiful marble-inspired veining. The curved ends of the kitchen island bench allow for a generous amount of seating space around the island ends. By positioning both their cooktop and sink on the rear run of the kitchen, the boys have kept the island bare, perfect for food preparation, serving, and entertaining gatherings.
“Holiday homes are about entertainment so that why we didn’t want a sink on our island bench,” explained Ricky. “If you wanted to, you could easily set up your beer pong on wither end, as there’s no taps in the way, it’s just a straight beer pong run! Perfect holiday resort home!”
The L-shaped layout of the kitchen allows for plenty of storage space and room for Bosch and NEFF cooking appliances and a pantry that flows on from the main kitchen. Balancing form and function to perfect, this is a kitchen that is sure to turn heads!
Despite their score, we believe the boys from Melbourne have created a beautiful kitchen for a beautiful holiday home, where plenty of special memories will be made right in this space- whether for gathering for breakfast, lunch or dinner- or even a game of beer pong!

House 4: Kylie and Brad
Score: 29.5
Place: WINNERS
They finally used their penguin and with it gained the win! Bold and beautiful, Kylie and Brad’s winning kitchen is the heart of their home. Sleek Black Ultramatt cabinetry has been teamed Avoca “V-groove” in the rich, dark timber of Bottega Oak Woodmatt.
Darren loved the cabinetry selection, particularly the Ultramatt Black. “It’s a lovely finish, because it doesn’t leave any fingerprints, which is fortunate because there’s no handles!”
To achieve the sleek look, touch cabinetry is predominately used throughout with Matt Black Pulls integrating with the joinery, while the beautiful Brushed Brass hardware from ABI Interiors injects the perfect amount of luxury.
The dramatic tones of Cosentino’s Dekton Laurent complement the space, with its striking crisscrossed veins of gold adding to the dramatic feel. Obsidian Black Miele appliances blend seamlessly with the joinery, maintaining the kitchen’s look without detracting from its overall design.
Hettich’s new FurnSpin rotating cabinetry has been used on both ends of the island bench as well as a tall cupboard in the back run. With a simple push, the cabinet swivels to reveal the open shelving within, allowing you to choose whether to hide away your contents or put them on display!
“Our kitchen will show everyone our style for the entire home,” said Kylie. “It’s nice to finally start bringing it all together and let everyone see where we’ve been trying to take our house.”

House 5: Kristian and Mimi
Score: 26.5
Place: 4th
Kristian and Mimi have designed a warm and welcoming kitchen space, featuring our new Tuscan Woodmatt door profiles for a look that is sure to turn heads. The pair have mixed thin Shaker-style Camden cabinets with panelled Sorrento doors for a striking textural look. The Smeg Portofino freestanding cooker and matching rangehood serve as the focal point of the space with their striking Olive colourway. And we have to say, if it was giving ‘Shrek Vibes’, it was in the chicest way possible!
The room is light and bright thanks to a series of skylights as well as the central window splashback. “We choose the splashback in glass, so as you cook, you can look out onto the pool and the yard,” explained Mimi. Given that this is the only kitchen to be located upstairs, we think this is a genius inclusion!
Cosentino’s Dekton Marmorio surfaces add an elegant and lightweight look to the space with its Travertino Navona-inspired finish. The rippled edge detail on the island adds a special touch, mimicking the structure of the surrounding door profiles.
Decorative open shelving clad in Dekton creates a high-impact display area, perfect for showcasing glassware and cocktail mixers. The shelves have been positioned above the Neptune grey appliances from Smeg, which include a wine cabinet and coffee machine. The space flows beautifully into a hidden pantry that houses two integrated fridges and dry food storage, creating a kitchen that is the centrepiece of House 5.
“Kristian and Mimi don’t let us down, do they?” smiled Darren. “It has a really generous entertaining and dining island bench, and it has a lot of drama to it as well. I love all of it!”
