Kitchen Design Trends to Steal from The Block 2024!
The are two key phrases that are used every time during everyone’s favourite week on The Block– Kitchen Week. These are “kitchens sell houses” and “kitchens are the heart of the home”. Both are certainly true and confirm why the most important renovation you can do in your home is the kitchen.
Recently the show revealed five stunning and unique kitchens, where viewers were treated to seeing why Kinsman’s range of high-quality and stylish cabinetry, handles, internal accessories, and storage solutions, can transform your kitchen and home!
Below we explore the top 5 trends that we will be seeing in Australian homes in 2025 and beyond.
1. The Understated Coastal Aesthetic is here to stay.
Timber-look cabinetry creates an on-trend colour palette that suits a range of kitchen styles, particularly a Coastal aesthetic. Kinsman’s new Shaker-style Sepia doors in Woodland Silver is perfect for this look as seen in Maddy and Charlotte’s kitchen in House 1.
2. Add the perfect amount of glamour to your kitchen.
Metallic hardware injects interest and glamour to enhance your cabinetry and surface selections. Bronze and gold tones are having a moment, which Courtney and Grant embraced, selecting our new Brushed Gold Bar handles.
Design tip: Bring the look together by matching your handles and tapware- we loved the selections from ABI Interiors that featured throughout all the kitchens this year.
3. Island living.
Your island bench is prime real estate in your kitchen, so if you can, keep it clutter-free. Haydn and Ricky showcased this to perfection- as they placed the sink and cooktop on the back benches of their kitchen, allowing the island to shine on its own as casual dining table. As the heart of the home, it makes sense to ensure family and friends can gather in this room, making it ideal for entertaining.
4. Dramatic Colour Palettes are making a comeback!
Chic and sophisticated, darker kitchens are a popular alternative to more neutral or white kitchens. We recommend layering textures and colour ways such as mixing blacks with dark timber tones to create a warm and welcoming look. This is seen in the layering of our Black Ultramatt and Avoca Bottega Oak cabinetry in Brad and Kylie’s winning kitchen, where the design is kept sleek and modern with integrated handles and appliances.
5. Make your kitchen cabinetry the hero of your kitchen!
Make your kitchen cabinetry the star of your room! Make a statement with warm timber tones such as our new Tuscan Woodmatt doors take centre stage in this kitchen in House 5. The thin-profile shaker door Camden and V-Groove Sorrento doors are perfect for this contemporary and fresh look.
We love how Kristian and Mimi paired their kitchen doors with other neutral elements such as travertine-look surfaces and a window splashback within their kitchen to allow the cabinetry to shine and be the hero in the space (along with the Olive Smeg cooker and rangehood of course).
