The Best Rooms From The Block 2020

With The Block Fans vs Faves only days away from hitting our screens, here at Kinsman HQ we have been reminiscing about the incredible spaces we created with the Blockheads last year on The Block 2020. From showpiece kitchens, to luxury laundries, wonderful wardrobes and home offices, the spaces from last years season showcased how working with Kinsman combines style with functionality. With so many stunning rooms to look back on, below we take a closer look at the winning spaces and what makes them so special.

Winning Kitchen: Jade & Daniel

They may have used their golden point to secure their win, but Jade and Daniel’s kitchen is more than worthy of the crown! Celebrating a natural and warm colour palette, the pair selected Camden Oyster Grey Matt cabinetry, Thin Flat Bar handles in Champagne and Caesarstone® Excava benchtops and splashbacks.

The kitchen has many beautiful focal points, in particular the centrepiece island bench, which acts as the perfect gathering space within the room and the entire home. A butler’s pantry offers generous storage and prep space, as well as additional appliances and 2020 Alumin Black Frame Shelves.

Winning Laundry: Jimmy & Tam

Jimmy and Tam, the overall winners of The Block 2020, created a beautiful laundry room that meets all the needs of a family. Storage and functionality was at the forefront of the design with user-friendly accessories being included such as a laundry hamper, broom cupboard, and a black hanging rail, ensuring that this a space anyone would enjoy doing laundry in!

Tam’s love of colour is seen throughout the room- we love the contrast of our panel-look Avalon doors in Oyster Grey Matt against the green tones of the Ballina Enamel cabinetry, and the terrazzo-look Frozen Terra benchtop from Caesarstone®.

Winning Studio: Sarah & George

Sarah and George had a very clear vision for their studio which included a Kinsman kitchenette, laundry, and home office. Designed for an Au Pair or similar, the focus was on ensuring the space was multi-functional and self-sufficient.

The NSW couple brought their modern and moody colour palette from the main house into the space, using Somersby Classic White Matt and Chadstone Bottega Oak Woodmatt cabinetry and Satin Black Rounded Bar handles. A generous home office space, as well as a hidden laundry within the kitchenette impressed the judges, leading the couple to victory!

Winning Master Bedroom Wardrobe: Harry & Tash

Father and daughter duo Harry and Tash, created a spacious walk-in robe in their Master bedroom which blew the judges away! Shaker-style Somersby doors in White Matt have been paired with Estella Oak Natural interiors for a modern yet classic look.

A makeup station is at the heart of the robe featuring a Caesarstone® Statuario Maximus top and a Loox Mirror, our smart mirror which features a demister and in-built Bluetooth speaker. Beyond its stylish looks, the robe abounds with storage and smart accessories, including a Wardrobe Lift, Folding Mirror, Scarf Rack and Jewellery Compartment Trays.

Winning Guest Bedroom One: Jimmy & Tam

Sleek and chic, Jimmy and Tam’s winning First Guest Bedroom, showcases White Satin exterior doors and Natural Oak Matt interiors. Opening the robe with Barcco Natural Ash Bar handles, the robe mixes hanging space, soft-close drawers and open shelves – and even includes secret access to the guest room’s ensuite!

Winning Guest Bedroom Two: Luke & Jasmin

Luke and Jasmin selected Natural Oak Matt timber-look joinery in their Hinged wardrobe paired with Greige Linen Natural interior finishes. With practicality and functionality in mind, the couple chose to double-stack cabinets to maximise storage space. Opening up the robe with Ribe Black Stain Timber handles, Premium Verti-Strip Lighting illuminates the contents of the robe which features hanging space, drawers, open shelves, and a Pull-out Mirror.

Winning Guest Bedroom Three: Sarah & George

Sarah and George created a whimsical children’s bedroom which included a statement Kinsman Wardrobe for their third and final guest bedroom. Their Sliding robe is a focal point within the space, showcasing Beton Texture exterior doors with a Black Sliding Door Frame, teamed with Brave Bow handles for a contemporary, industrial look. Behind the doors lie Dark Oak Natural interiors and a plethora of storage and accessories, such as a Folding Mirror, hanging space, shelving and soft-close drawers.
